The Westminster Kennel Club Announces Dr. Treyton Diggs As Resident Veterinarian

The Westminster Kennel Club (WKC) has named Dr. Treyton Diggs of Boutte, Louisiana its first Resident Veterinarian. Earlier this year, Diggs was the recipient of Westminster’s third annual Veterinarian of the Year Award for his unwavering values, dedication, and moral compass in animal care. In a landmark inaugural appointment, The Westminster Kennel Club has named Diggs its first-ever “Resident Vet.”

The role of Resident Veterinarian will enhance the WKC educational mission by creating informative and engaging dog-related content for distribution across its growing digital channels and at in-person events, including the upcoming 2025 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, serving as a trusted authority within the dog sport community and a valuable resource for dog owners. While Diggs has demonstrated exemplary leadership in his community of New Orleans, the newly established Resident Vet role will allow him to provide virtual support and expert counsel for Westminster’s global community.

“For nearly 150 years, The Westminster Kennel Club has promoted proper dog training and care to educate and prepare the next generation for responsible dog ownership,” said Dr. Donald Sturz, President of The Westminster Kennel Club. “We’re thrilled to officially welcome the incomparable Dr. Diggs into the Westminster family, and provide a platform to share his expert insights and incredible canine care with the world.”

As Resident Vet, Diggs will create a series of video and written content, exploring topical canine lifestyle topics from choosing the right pet for your family to traveling with your pet, as well as health, nutritional, and preventative care tips to keep your dog in top performance shape and build awareness of common canine issues such as joint health, dental care, and heatstroke in dogs.

Dr. Treyton Diggs received his DVM from Tuskegee University, and was extensively trained by top Board-Certified veterinary specialists across the country in Small Animal Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Emergency and Critical Care, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Surgery, Dentistry, and Radiology. After completing his studies, Dr. Diggs returned home to Louisiana to the VCA Causeway Animal Hospital family. After five years, he founded Allstar Animal Clinic in 2013, where he has a special interest in orthopedic surgery, soft tissue surgery, and theriogenology (reproductive medicine).
