Remembering Ted Hoots

We received the sad news that Ted Hoots tragically passed away in an automobile accident following the Apple Valley Kennel Club Dog Shows this past weekend on Sunday, April 11, 2021. He had just finished working a successful weekend at the dog show as a vendor with Hoots N Hounds.

Here is a statement from Ted’s wife, Shari:

”My husband, Ted Hoots tragically died Sunday night, April 11, 2021 after leaving the Apple Valley Kennel Club Dog Show at Schmidt Park, Victorville California while driving our golf cart home. He was just two blocks from the park.
“The accident happened at Phantom West at Innovation Drive. (Southern California Logistics Airport) The impact of the car that hit him, Literally pushed the golf cart the intersection where he would have been turning right on Innovation Drive. Innovation is paved for a block, becomes dirt and from there it would have been a straight shot into our residential neighborhood.
“In 25 years of marriage, I can’t remember him ever saying “No” to me, from the first dog, first piece of agility equipment, helping my dog clubs/friends/neighbors and mentoring guys in the construction field.
“That golf cart was just an example of him never saying no to me. We put countless miles on that thing cruising around our campground at the river with the dogs. As a matter of fact, when he cleaned it up last week for the dog show, he found a couple of water toys.
“I’m shattered into a million pieces right now and putting personal words to paper is just too much. Thank you all for the kind words and to Chris Achey for creating the go fund me page, something that my pride would have never allowed me to do.”
At the age of 66, Ted leaves behind a wife, 4 children, 2 beautiful Granddaughters, a father and Stepmom, 9 brothers and sisters.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends following this great loss.

The dog show community has set up a GoFundMe to help his wife Shari during this time. For more information, click here.
