Remembering Col. Wallace Pede

It is with great regret that we report the passing of Col. Wallace Pede. of Springfield VA. He was 97 years old. Col. Pede was a past AKC Judge of all Hound breeds, Working breeds, and most Herding breeds.

Along with his wife Kay, Colonel Pede bred Afghan Hounds under the Scheherezade prefix. They started breeding while stationed in England with the Airforce in the 1950s.  He was the first American to win the group at Crufts with Afghan Hound, Bletchingley Ragman of Scheherezade. Scheherezade Afghan Hounds were responsible for many champions and influential dogs. As a judge, he was known for his knowledge and mentorship. He was a founding member of the Senior Conformation Judges Association, the first formal judges education group.

The Canine Chronicle extends our sincere condolences to all who knew and loved him. He will be missed.
