AKC Canine Health Foundation Celebrates Matched Donations for Hemangiosarcoma Research
The AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF) celebrates overwhelming support for its Hemangiosarcoma Research Initiative with donations matched by the American German Shepherd Dog Charitable Foundation (AGSDCF).
With more than $33,000 given by donors since October 1, 2020, the AGSDCF has now matched $100,000 in donations to CHF’s Hemangiosarcoma Research Initiative as part of a three-year pledge to fight this aggressive cancer. Their dedication to supporting canine health research benefits all dogs, including German Shepherd Dogs, and makes the AGSDCF and its donors a valued partner in CHF’s work to improve the lives of dogs.
“The American German Shepherd Dog Charitable Foundation is very proud to be a part of the CHF family. We are honored to hopefully be a lifeline for better health for our beloved breed and all other canines,” says AGSDCF President, Debra Ann Hokkanen.
CHF’s Hemangiosarcoma Research Initiative was launched in 2018 to focus fundraising and research efforts on improving diagnostic and treatment options for this deadly cancer of the cells that line canine blood vessels. Since 1995, CHF and its donors have invested over $3.8 million in 27 canine health research grants to study hemangiosarcoma. Several clinical trials supported by CHF funding are currently underway, and CHF, along with all dog owners, remains hopeful for continued improvements in the standard of care for dogs with hemangiosarcoma.
