The American Kennel Club Honors Wenatchee Kennel Club With Summer 2018 Public Education Award
Raleigh, NC – The American Kennel Club (AKC ® ), the world’s largest dog registry, leading industry authority and advocate for dogs, is pleased to announce Wenatchee Kennel Club as the recipient of the Summer 2018 Public Education Award by the AKC Public Education Department.
The AKC is pleased to recognize the many ways in which Wenatchee Kennel Club, located in Wenatchee, Washington , strives to engage and educate their community. Some of those efforts include holding more than 180 training classes for both members and non – members, participation in community festivals, training and supporting 4 – H clubs, and cultivating a positive online and media presence.
Leslie Fetzer, Director of Education, attended the Apple Harvest Weekend event in Wenatchee, Washington on October 20 th to present the Public Education Award to the club.
“It was a gorgeous day, at a great event; and, an honor to meet Chuck St. John (Wenatchee Kennel Club’s Public Education Coordinator), and those working with him to create opportunities to educate the public about dogs, dog sports, and the bonds that are built when we participate in activities with our dogs. This club is most deserving of the Public Education Award,” says Leslie Fetzer.
The Public Education Award is designed to acknowledge the efforts of those working to engage, facilitate, and convey the ongoing importance of the relationships between people and canines through education and outreach. The recipient club receives a $500 award and a plaque.
All AKC Clubs that have an active Public Education Coordinator are eligible to apply for this award. To qualify for the Public Education Award, clubs must submit an essay of 500 words or less that describes how their club has positively contributed to the education of the public about th e ongoing importance of relationships between people and canines.
