Revised Judging Approval Process Now Available on AKC Website

The following letter was sent out to each AKC Judge from Tim Thomas regarding the AKC Judging Approval Process.

Dear AKC Conformation Judges,

The Judging Operations Department is writing you to inform you that revised Judging Approval Process approved by the Board of Directors at its November 2017 meeting has now been posted on the AKC and may be accessed via the Conformation Judging Resource Center page. As included in the letter from Mr. Menaker, sent to all the judges and delegates announcing the Board’s action, the policy is effective January 1, 2018 and an immediate moratorium was placed on all applications for additional breeds until the January 1, 2018 effective date. Applications received or post marked on or prior to November 13th will continue through processing.

Please be reminded, only applications for additional breeds are impacted by the moratorium imposed by the Board. Request for regular status, Adjunct applications, Junior Showmanship applications, and New Breed applications may continue to be submitted to Judging Operations. All applications for conformation judging approval received on or after January 1, 2018 must meet the criteria of the revised process and must be submitted on the revised forms dated “January 1, 2018″. All application forms will be updated and posted in the coming weeks. An announcement will be made when they are available.

To aid in understanding the new criteria resulting from the approved revisions, the FAQ document related to the Judging Approval Process has been updated and an article has been posted in the Conformation Judges Blog detailing the modifications and their impact. Both are now available online and all are encouraged to review these documents to understand the requirements moving forward. Additional information and explanation will be disseminated in the weeks leading up to the following to the January 1, 2018 effective date.
