The AKC Junior Agility Team Shines at 2018 FCI European Open Junior Agility Competition
The American Kennel Club (AKC ®) is pleased to congratulate the AKC European Open Junior Agility Team on their achievements at the 2018 FCI European Open Junior Agility event held in the Netherlands July 13-15, 2018. The Juniors competed based on their ages – Children are under 15 years of age & Juniors are 15 -18 years old. They also competed as Teams of 4 and individually in Agility and Jumping classes over the weekend.
Twenty-three dogs and handlers represented the AKC at the event, competing against over 500 juniors from over 25 countries. Junior handler Kai Macauley and his Border Collie “Stitch” have won the title of 2018 Children’s Large Dog Champion. The Medium Team, comprised of Natalie Spinsby & Shetland Sheepdog “Fire,” Sasha Zitter & Poodle “Jinx,” Claire Oneil & Keeshond “Ama,” Morgan Vance & Shetland Sheepdog “Shadow, placed 3rd in Agility, 6th in Jumping and 4th overall (out of 28 teams) for the weekend.
Other top 10 placements include Brie Schaff & Shetland Sheepdog “Streak” placing 4th in Children Small Dog Jumping & 7thoverall in Children Small Dog event and Natalie Spinsby & Shetland Sheepdog “Fire” placed 6th in Junior Medium Dog Agility & 5thoverall (out of 86) in Junior Medium Dog Event.
“We are very proud of the AKC European Open Junior Agility Team,” said Carrie DeYoung, Director of Agility, “Each handler competed at the highest level and gave it their best at the competition. All of their hard work has paid off.”
