Charleen, a Samoyed from Portugal, won the Pastoral Best in Group title at Crufts 2019 today (Friday 8th March), qualifying her for a place in the Best in Show final on Sunday.
Charleen (Multi Ch Dorian Spring Charleen Lumiere de la Vie), 6, along with her owner and handler, Darla Silva, will return to the Resorts World Arena at the NEC in Birmingham for a place in the final at the world’s biggest dog show, Crufts.
People across the world will be watching to see which dog is crowned Best in Show on Sunday as the final is filmed live on Channel 4 and available to be streamed on the official Crufts YouTube Channel - www.youtube.com/crufts.
Almost 21,000 dogs have competed over the four days for one of just seven places in the Crufts final and a chance to win the most celebrated title in the world of dogs.
Proud owner Darla said: “We are so lucky. We came to represent Portugal in the Eukanuba World Challenge yesterday and to show in the breed today. Charleen came from the Ukraine to us in Portugal five years ago. She is such a family dog and gives us so much life. She is a queen!”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “We are delighted to see Charleen chosen as the Best in Group winner. It’s an incredible achievement to reach the prestigious Best in Show final, Charleen and Darla should be proud.
“Crufts celebrates healthy, happy dogs and recognises the special and unique bond between dogs and their owners. Charleen is an excellent dog and you can see she really enjoys being in the show ring.
“It’s only day two of four and the final is already looking exciting. We want to wish Charleen and Darla the best of luck in the ring, we are sure that all of Portugal will be tuning in to the live stream to support them.”
