The American Kennel Club Announces Recipients of 2018 Veterinary Scholarships

The American Kennel Club (AKC®), the world’s largest purebred dog registry and advocate for all dogs, continues its commitment to students pursuing their education in veterinary studies with the announcement of the 2018 AKC Veterinary Outreach Scholarship recipients.

This scholarship is designed to support individuals with a background of participation in AKC events and programs, who seek to promote animal health and medicine. A total of $26,000 in scholarship money was awarded.

Recipients of the AKC Veterinary Outreach Scholarship are: Sarah Broom (Washington State University), Emily Brown (University of California-Davis), Corene Bruhns (Cornell University), Jacqueline Fera (University of Pennsylvania), Elizabeth Gambel (Louisiana State University), Brenna Hanratty (Midwestern University), Hunter Lamar (University of Georgia), Olga Maderych (University of California-Davis), Julia O’Rourke (Purdue University), Liana Streckenbach (University of Wisconsin), Jalice Zumstein (Washington State University).

“We are very proud of these students who have shown a proven dedication to the world of purebred dogs and balanced their demanding school schedules with participation in AKC events,” said Mari-Beth O’Neill, VP of Sports Services. “We look forward to seeing their impact on the future of veterinary medicine.”
