Michigan Senate Passes Ban on Breed Specific Laws

AKC Legislative Alert

Yesterday the Michigan Senate passed Senate Bill 741, which will prohibit municipalities from enacting breed-specific policies.

AKC supports this bill, which protects dog owners while still allowing communities to enact laws that hold all dog owners accountable.

Scroll down to the sixth page of the Senate Journal (page 532) to see the official vote for SB 741.  If your Senator voted yes on this bill, please reach out and thank them for their support!

Senate Bill 741 now goes to the House Local Government Committee for consideration.  AKC Government Relations will continue to provide updates as the bill advances.
