AKC Participates In Second Annual ESPN Dog Day
The American Kennel Club (AKC®), the world’s largest purebred dog registry and leading advocate for all dogs, is excited to participate in the second annual ESPN Dog Day, celebrating International Dog Day. Canine action will take over ESPN2 on August 26th from 7:00 p.m. ET-12:00 a.m. ET. This year, ESPN Dog Day will include a brand-new event, ESPN Bark in the Park. Taking place at Dunkin Donuts Park in Hartford, CT, on August 24th, ESPN Bark in the Park will highlight dog action sports such as Agility, Flyball, Diving Dogs, and a new Weave Pole Challenge. It will also include a special edition Meet the Breeds event, streaming on the ESPN App from 6:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m., highlighting familiar breeds from Disney films, like the Cocker Spaniel, Dogue de Bordeaux, and Dalmatian.
To close out the night, ESPN2 will feature the 1989 Disney film Turner & Hooch and the 2020 AKC National Championship.
“The AKC is thrilled to participate in our second ESPN Dog Day and bring dog action sports to ‘ESPN Bark in the Park’” said AKC Executive Secretary Gina DiNardo. “It’s a great opportunity to show off these talented canine athletes and give viewers a taste of what our dog sports are all about.”
