Milton Keynes Dog Wins Group At Crufts And Made It Through To Live Channel 4 Final
Beating thousands of other dogs, Pearl (Sh Ch Afterglow Pearl’s A Singer), an American Cocker Spaniel from Bletchley, Milton Keynes won the Best in Group award for Gundogs this evening.
Pearl, aged two, owned by Susan Crummey and Jason Lynn, went on to compete for the prestigious title of Best in Show against just six other dogs at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts at the NEC in Birmingham but narrowly missed out on the Best in Show prize.
More than 21,000 dogs competed over the four days of the show for the chance to win the most celebrated title in the world of dogs. Only seven dogs made it all the way through to the final, which was watched by thousands in the arena and millions more worldwide as it was televised live on Channel 4 and streamed on the official Crufts YouTube Channel - www.youtube.com/crufts.
Proud owner, Susan said: “I can’t believe it! It’s something you always dream about. She’s a real show dog and loves competing. It’s all the more important as this year she’s being retired and to reach Best in Show was incredible.”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “Reaching the Best in Show final at Crufts is a fabulous achievement for any dog and we were delighted to see Pearl chosen as the Best in Group winner today, she is such a lovely dog that clearly loves being in the show ring and has a great relationship with her handler.”
