KCAI Career Zone Returns To Crufts 2014
The Kennel Club Accredited Instructor Scheme (KCAI) will be working in partnership again with Purina PRO PLAN at Crufts 2014 to host the KCAI Career Zone for canine professionals and all who have an interest in working with dogs.
New for 2014 is the ‘BVNA Vet Engagement Area’ in the Career Zone, which will be hosted by the British Veterinary Nursing Association.
The BVNA Vet Engagement Area will offer advice, resources and education for those working or aspiring to work in the veterinary nurse industry. There will be a range of lectures including ‘What you can learn from health and safety in a veterinary practice’, presented by Alison Clark, veterinary nurse and BVNA Congress Steward Co-Ordinator.
Dog trainers and canine behaviourists can look forward to lectures including ‘The Evolution of Dogs’ with Professor Peter Neville from COAPE, ‘The Brain, Behaviour and Clicker Training’ with KCAI Vice Chairman and IABTC founder, Angela White.
Gundog training enthusiasts can hear popular gundog trainer and public speaker Adrian Slater giving advice on setting up a gundog training class, and training techniques from beginner through to advanced level.
Dog Legislation Officer for the Association of Chief Police Officers, Keith Evans will be offering a unique insight into dog legislation; a vital subject for anyone who works with dogs.
Those who work as dog walkers will have the opportunity to hear from dog walking access expert Stephen Jenkinson on the important subject of ‘Commercial Dog Walkers – adding value and reducing conflict’. This talk will provide a useful insight into all issues involved with commercial dog walking, highlighting the huge step towards the first ever UK qualification in dog walking, which is currently in development with the Kennel Club.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary commented: “The first KCAI Career Zone in partnership with Purina PRO PLAN was a phenomenal success at Crufts 2013, with positive feedback from delegates and peers on the informative seminars and learning opportunities offered.
“We look forward to building on this success and offering a wide range of informative subjects for dog professionals, no matter what their speciality may be.”
Purina PRO PLAN will again work together with the KCAI scheme to provide the very best advice and learning opportunities throughout the show. Nutrition experts and veterinary professionals will be providing scientific, unbiased lectures.
As well as the daily lectures, Purina PRO PLAN’s vets and vet nurses will be working as part of the KCAI Expert Panel to offer canine professionals the very best nutritional advice on a one-to-one basis. The Expert Panel will include some of the UK’s leading experts on all things to do with training, rescue and canine charities, services and business.
