A Dog For All Rings

An Old English Sheepdog named “Street” had a busy day Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at the Kenosha Kennel Club dog show in Wilmot, WI. “Street” started his day with a score of 94 in Rally Advanced B, then on to win Best of Breed, back to the obedience Novice B ring to earn a score of 189 in Graduate. “Street” placed in his Rally and Obedience classes. He then went on to win the Herding Group.  “Street” topped his day off with taking Best in Show!

“Street”, GCH CH Lambluv’s Street of Dreams RA CD BN, was bred by Jere Marder and Lynn Levine and is handled in conformation by Christine Hajek. He was originally purchased by Rich and Cathie Leszinske to  compete in obedience. The Leszinske’s promised to finish his championship before retiring him from conformation, little did the Leszinske’s realize that “Street” would do more than just finish his championship. He became a dog who liked to keep busy in conformation and performance, so his owners found themselves running back and forth between the two, and sometimes three rings to meet his ring times.

Cathie likes how the conformation helps his obedience and vice versa. She feels that being acclimated to all of the commotion at a dog show helps him to perform at his best in all rings. She said he loves being in the ring and has no preference from one to the other. “Street” decided he likes both rings and that is why he continues to compete in Rally, Obedience and Conformation. “Street” displays the versatility necessary as well as demonstrating that a dog can truly compete in both Conformation and Performance at the same show!
