Woofstock 2013 – Be The Best Dressed!
The much-awaited Woofstock Cluster, which is hosted by the Lake County Kennel Club of Northern California and the Contra Costa County Kennel Club, is being held in Vallejo, California on Thursday, June 6th through Sunday, June 9th. Besides large entries, health clinics, after show activities, and a multitude of specialties and supported entries, The Woofstock Cluster is known as the place where exhibitors and judges can release their inner hippie and enjoy a fun atmosphere. There is a Tie-Dye Day and also a costume contest for cash prizes.
The costume contest is judged on the following categories –
Best Dressed Hippie Male
Best Dressed Hippie Female
Best Dressed Hippie Under the Age of Twelve
Best Dressed Dog
Here are a few tips on how to dress and style oneself as the Best Dressed Hippie.
Clothing – The obvious clothing items that come to mind for a hippie are tie-dye clothing items and denim bell-bottoms. Beyond that, many appropriate clothing items can be found inexpensively at thrift stores – look for long flowing tops and loose patterned skirts for women or faded retro tee shirts for men.
Accessories – Adding fringe or peace sign patches to day-to-day clothing items is an easy way to embrace hippie style. Also, headbands worn around the head, big belts, beaded jewelry, and flowers in women’s hair are perfect accessories.
Shoes – Many hippies may have traveled barefoot – however this is obviously not appropriate for a dog show. Flip-flops or Birkenstock’s are more suitable.
Hair and Makeup – Big or natural hair is key for styling oneself as a hippie. Wigs can also add to this look for the day. For women, natural to no makeup is fitting.
