New Non-Profit: American Beagle Relief Network
The American Beagle Relief Network was formed to replace the BRFOA (Beagle Rescue Foundation Of American) which has raised funds to support beagle rescue for the past 18 years. The new organization will function in much the same manner, raising funds from the community of dog show hobbyist breeders of beagles to distribute to other non-profit beagle rescue organizations throughout the United States of America. The new organization is headed by President, Julie Wright of California with Jaye Marten of Texas as Secretary and Jessica Parker of Georgia as Treasurer. They have applied for 501 (c) 3 Non-profit status with the IRS which is expected to take about a year to finalize. Like BRFOA before it, ABRN will function with a totally volunteer board of directors who will receive no compensation from the organization. Other than minimal expenses to run ABRN, 100% of the money raised will go directly to help rescued beagles.
The new organization will be known as Ambr-net for short. Their mascot is a beagle named Amber. Their logo and website are currently under design. Web-master, Kathleen Weaver has put up an ‘in progress’ website where you can check for updates on the organization’s progress and activities at:
Their first major fund raising event will be held in conjunction with the National Beagle Club Specialty in Tucson, Arizona on Friday, November 1st. The event will be a dinner and both a silent auction and a live auction in the evening. Donations for the auction are very much appreciated. If you will be attending, you can bring items with you. There will be a drop-off area designated at the hotel. If you need to ship items, please mark the boxes: ABRN-BEAGLE SHOW and ship to arrive October 27-29 at:
Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites
4550 S Palo Verde Road
Tucson AZ 85714
Attention: Julie Wright, Guest
If you need to ship prior to this time, please contact Julie Wright at jwbeagle@hughes.net & she will make arrangements with you.
The officers of ABRN feel that they have very big shoes to fill to emulate the work that was done for so many years by BRFOA. So far the support from the fancy has been very strong and they are looking forward to helping many more beagles in the future.
