Morris Animal Foundation Unite to Fight Pet Cancer Virtual Walk – June 28
Morris Animal Foundation Press Release
Join Morris Animal Foundation on June 28 for the annual Unite to Fight Pet Cancer Virtual Walk. What is a virtual walk? You can walk anywhere and with anyone, go solo or get a team together, all while raising money to support the fight against pet cancer!
Pet cancer is the leading cause of death in dogs and the second leading disease-related cause of death in cats. In fact, 12 million new cancer diagnoses are made in dogs and cats each year. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Morris Animal Foundation is the largest nonprofit organization funding studies that help lead to treatments, diagnostics and preventions that protect our pets from cancer. The foundation currently is funding more than 40 active pet cancer studies receiving nearly $6 million in total funding.
Our researchers are investigating 10 different types of canine cancers, including some of the most common cancer types, like osteosarcoma, hemangiosarcoma, mast cell tumors, melanoma and lymphoma. Our feline cancer researchers are focusing their efforts on four types of feline cancers: oral cancers, injection-site sarcomas, lymphoma and mammary cancer.
Cancer doesn’t have to take the ones we love – be your pet’s best friend and walk to support Morris Animal Foundation’s fight against pet cancer. We are doing a lot, but together can do so much more.
