#TriviaTuesday – Check Your Answer!
Question of the week: The first dogs registered in the American Kennel Club (AKC) belonged to what group?
Answer: Sporting Group. The 9 original “charter breeds” of the AKC, all recognized way back in 1878, were the Pointer, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Clumber Spaniel, Cocker Spaniel, Sussex Spaniel, Irish Water Spaniel, Irish Setter, English Setter and Gordon Setter. They are all part of the Sporting Group today, at the time they were all hunting dogs that were commonly sought after.
