Jackson County AKC Pet Disaster Relief Trailer Deployed To Central Point, OR In Wake of Almeda Fire
The AKC Pet Disaster Relief trailer that was donated to Jackson County Animal Services has been deployed to Central Point, Oregon to assist with evacuation efforts due to the Almeda fire.
AKC Reunite, the nation’s largest non-profit pet identification and recovery service, joined forces with the Southern Oregon Kennel Club, American Bullmastiff Association, American Shetland Sheepdog Association Foundation, Dog Judges Association of America, Roxy Ann Veterinary Hospital PC, and the Redwood Equine Vet Services/Lakeway Veterinary Hospital to donate this lifesaving AKC Pet Disaster Relief trailer to Jackson County Animal Services.
The trailer is stationed at the Expo in Central Point, OR to assist with animal sheltering efforts, currently housing several dogs and cats, as well as dozens of large animals. The AKC Pet Disaster Relief trailers help to create a safe, temporary home-base for at least 65 pets during the first 72 hours after a disaster is declared.
AKC Reunite has also made a $2,500 donation to the Friends of the Animal Shelter in Jackson County as they assist with displaced pets.
