Highlights From The July 2013 AKC Board Meeting
New York, NY – Highlights from the July 22-23, 2013 meeting of the AKC Board of Directors are as follows. Full details on these actions, as well as other actions taken, are included in the minutes for the meetings, which will be posted on the AKC website.
- The Board appointed the Nominating Committee, which is to nominate candidates to fill vacancies on the AKC Board at the March 2014 Delegate Meeting. The Committee includes: Dominic P. Carota, Chair, Pharaoh Hound Club of America; James M. Ashton, Obedience Training Club of Rhode Island; Robert D. Black, Hatboro Dog Club; Constance Butherus, Afghan Hound Club of America; Marcy L. Zingler, Sun Maid Kennel Club of Fresno. Alternates: Jeffrey David Ball, Ramapo Kennel Club; Steve Schmidt, Texas Kennel Club.
- The Board set the dates for Board and Delegate Meetings for 2014, 2015 and 2016. The schedule is included in the minutes of the July 2013 meeting and will be posted on the AKC website.
- The Board provided for additional Certificates of Merit titles for dogs competing in the Miscellaneous Class (CM2, CM3, etc.)
- Standing written approval was given to clubs to hold certain common special attractions so that it would not be necessary to submit a separate written request each time the attraction is held. The list of special attractions included is in the July 2013 Board minutes.
