Chihuahua Club of America National Specialty Recap – October 12-14, 2012

The Chihuahua Club of America held it’s annual National Specialty October 12-14, 2012 in Hoffman Estates, IL. The sweepstakes kicked off Friday’s festivities under judge Dena A Muenzler. Congratulations to Dazzles Minnie Menace-owned by Donna Jensen, who won Best in Sweeps as well as Best Long Coated in Sweeps, out of the 9-12 Long Coated bitch class. Best Opposite to Sweeps was Bloomsbury Balderdash-owned by Lynn and Jeff Hurd, from the 6-9 SC dog class. BOS in the Long Coated was Mina’s Just Another Rumor-owned by Mina Anderson and BOS in the SC variety was Aqlla Talisman-owned by Jose Alberto Christiansen. Friday night brought the Black Tie and Blue Jean event, which included the Top 20 competition. Kent Delaney was the AKC judge, breeder judge was Gloria Lambert, and Jesse Bechert was the handler judge. The top 20 winner was Smooth Coated GCH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight-owned by Arthur and Gloria Johnson; who was the top smooth Chihuahua in 2011 as well as the people’s choice winner at the 2011 Top 20 event. CGH Arywen Star Kissed Delight-owned by Arthur and Gloria Johnson, GCH Roseland Eli-owned by Tina and Bill Bregman, and GCH Flo-Davi Star Spangled Glory-owned by Florence & David Davis and Kirsten Potts, all tied for the people’s choice 2012 award.
Saturday began with the Jr. Showmanship competition, with Kirsten Potts winning best Jr.Handler. Smooth coat competition followed Jr. Showmanship with BK’s Ollie Ollie winning Winners Dog out of the 9-12 puppy class, owned by Barbara K Smith. Reserve winners dog was Dartan The Spark Continues out of the open dog class, owned by Tamara Jackson and Darwin Delaney. Winners bitch was BCBG and TEGs French Kiss from the 12-18 class and owned by Caroline Desmarais. Reserve winners bitch was Conemara Morning Glory from the Bred by Exhibitor class, owned by Conni Robinson. Best of Variety for smooth coats was GCH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, the smooth bitch owned by Arthur and Gloria Johnson. Dee Dee also won this honor in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Best Opposite Sex to BOV was GCH Grannycreek’s One and Only Wild Bill owned by Junko Guichon. Select Dog was GCH RSUN King Lewis of PPC, owned by Racheal L. Miller. Select Bitch was CH Heavenly’s Moonflower, owned by Annette L. Ray. Awards of Merits were awarded to CH Bloomsbury Burning Love owned by Lynn and Jeff Hurd, GCH Encore-DuLittle’s Blaze on the Bayou owned by Dina C Becnel, GCH Gaga Lady De Aqlla owned by Marcy Blank and Linda George, GCH Silver Bluff Mahogany Sonador owned by Lo Wolfson, Roz Maser, and Jeanne Deeming, and GCH Silver Bluff Eight Belles owned by Rick Ly and Barbara Fischer. Best puppy was awarded to BK’s Ollie Ollie, owned by Barbara K Smith. Best smooth bred by exhibitor was Dartan Tuxedo Cowboy, owned by Ms. Kathy Bucher Sawyer and Dartan Delaney. Best smooth American bred was Destanaz “When Lightning Strikes”, owned by Kim Prelovsky. Best smooth veteran was CH Ceegee’s I’m a Holy Tarra, owned by Ms. Gail Hendry and Ed Hendry. Best smooth stud dog was GCH Dartan On Fire Again, owned by Tamara Jackson.
Sunday kicked off the long coat competition, with Mini Cooper Lamuno as Winners Dog out of the Open Dog class owned by Jose Lamuno. Reserve Winners went to Keepsakes Moves Like Jagger owned by Eryka Snodgrass, out of the 12-18 month dog class. Winners Bitch was Carousel’s All Bets Are Off owned by Bethany M. Thursby from the Bred by Exhibitor class. Reserve winners bitch was Dartan Fancy Don’t Let me Down, owned by Ms. Kathy Bucher Sawyer and Darwin Delaney out of the 6-9 puppy bitch class. Best of Variety went to Timeless Cottondale Pink Champagne, owned by Kyle Potts and Sharon L Boyd. Best Opposite Sex went to GCH Mixtli, owned by J Breazeale, S.F.Guthrie, & P. Martinez Benavid. Select Dog was GCH Will-CM Ready 4 Prime Time, owned by Curtis F Williams, Michael D Dunnington, and Jill Hopper. Select Bitch went to CH Mar-Rich’s Girls Lie Too, owned by Barbara K Smith. Awards of merit went to CH Brilliant Win Jp Famous Ambrose owned by Chizuru Kadowaki and Hisayosi Kadowaki, CH Leon Guanajuato De Aqila-owned by Jose Alberto Christiansen, GCH Victory Mask of Zorro owned by Kathryn V Hulstein and Savanna Hulstein, CH Timeless Abbycadabra owned by Kirsten Potts and Patricia Holzkopf, and CH Emma’s Dream Girls owned by Phyllis and Jessy Bechert. Best long coat puppy went to Dartan Fancy Don’t Let Me Down, owned by Ms. Kathy Bucher Sawyer and Darwin Delaney. Best long coat bred by exhibitor was Carousel’s All Bets Are Off, owned by Bethany Thursby. Best long coat American bred was Rosehill Alydar Wisper In The Wind, owned by Teresa Gleason. Best Veteran was CH Brilliant Win Jp Famous Ambrose, owned by Chizuru and Hisayosi Kadowaki. Best long coat stud dog was CH Jems The Dapper Don owned by Jessica Simon.
Best in Speciality went to GCH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, owned by Arthur and Gloria Johnson. Dee Dee, as she is affectionately known, also won this honor in 2010. Best of Opposite in Specialty was GCH Mixtli owned by J Breazeale, S.F. Guthrie, B. Overstreet, and P. Martinez Benavid. Best puppy in Specialty was Dartan Fancy Don’t Let Me Down owned by Ms. Kathy Bucher Sawyer and Darwin Delaney. Best Bred by Exhibitor In Specialty was Carousel’s All Bets Are Off owned by Bethany Thursby. Best American bred in Specialty was Rosehill Alydar Wisper In the Wind owned by Teresa Gleason. Best Veteran in Specialty was CH Brilliant Win Jp Famous Ambrose, owned by Chizuru and Hisayosi Kadowaki. Best Stud dog in Specialty went to GCH Dartan On Fire Again owned by Tamara Jackson. All BOV, GCH Select, and Award of Merit winners received a certificate of entry for the 2013 or 2014 Crufts Dog Show. Congratulations to all!
