Irish Wolfhound Wins Group At Crufts And Makes It Through To Live Channel 4 Final
Beating thousands of other dogs, James (Ger/Bel/Dutch/Lux Ch Just In Time Of First Avenue), an Irish Wolfhound has qualified for the final of Crufts after winning Best in Group for Hounds today.
James, aged three, will now compete for the prestigious title of Best in Show Sunday night against just six other dogs at the world’s greatest dog show, Crufts at the NEC in Birmingham. More than 21,000 dogs are competing over the four days of the show for the chance to win the most celebrated title in the world of dogs.
Owner and handler, Gary Janssens and James, from Belgium, will be returning to the NEC Arena on the evening of Sunday March 9th for the highly anticipated Crufts 2014 final. Only seven dogs make it all the way through to the final, which will be watched by thousands in the arena and millions more worldwide as it will be televised live on Channel 4 and streamed on the official Crufts YouTube Channel - www.youtube.com/crufts.
Proud owner, Gary said: “This is the top! Crufts was on my list for 30 years and one of the world’s top shows. Now that they are accepting international dogs, the competition is even tougher.
“James always succeeds but he has topped it all today. He is a lovely dog, very easy going; he’s a big teddy bear. It’s just great to win at Crufts.”
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “We were delighted to see James chosen as the Best in Group winner today, he is such a lovely dog that clearly loves being in the show ring and has a great relationship with his handler.
“Reaching the Best in Show final at Crufts is a fabulous achievement and we wish James and Gary the very best for the final. Their achievement shows just how international Crufts has become.”
