Westminster Kennel Club News Flash – Masters Obedience Championship
The Westminster Kennel Club announces exciting changes to its Masters Obedience Championship competition to be held Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020. Westminster will institute a traditional obedience format with exhibitors performing Open B and Utility B advanced exercises to determine the 2020 Masters Obedience Champion.
The competition will consist of two rounds, each with AKC-approved exercises. One round will contain Open B exercises and the other round will have Utility B exercises. First through fourth placements will be awarded in each round, with the highest score team from either round awarded High in Trial. The Masters Obedience Champion will be determined by the combined individual qualifying scores from both rounds. Qualifying scores will be recorded toward AKC titles.
Invitations will be sent to the top 200 dogs, based on AKC OTCH points earned between January 1, 2019 and October 31, 2019 and to the winners of the 2018 Masters Obedience Championship at Westminster, AKC Classic Master Class, and AKC National Obedience Championship. Dogs with OTCH titles are automatically eligible to enter, but will not receive an advanced invitation.
The premium list will be published in late September. The entry limit is 25. Check westminsterkennelclub.org for more information.
