The American Kennel Club Partners With The American Cancer Society To Honor The Canine As A Caregiver

The American Kennel Club (AKC®), the world’s largest dog registry and leading industry authority and advocate for dogs, today announces a strategic relationship with the American Cancer Society to honor the canine as caregiver and bring awareness to both canine and human cancer research.

The AKC and the Society will pair up for various events across the country including their Bark For Life fundraising events. During these events, AKC will educate the public on canine health, micro-chipping, pet socialization, and the link between canine and human health. They will also host various events and cross promote awareness through their various social media channels.

“We are thrilled to work with the American Cancer Society,” said Dennis Sprung, President and CEO of the AKC. “Dogs add so much to our lives and even more so when we are dealing with illness or trauma. We welcome this opportunity to honor the canine as a caregiver as well as educate the public.”

The American Cancer Society Bark For Life events honor the life-long contributions of our canine caregivers and celebrate cancer survivorship, while raising funds for continued groundbreaking research, supporting education efforts, and providing free information and critical services for cancer patients.

“We are honored to be working with the American Kennel Club,” said Maria Clark, SVP, volunteer events, American Cancer Society. “As the largest dog registry in the world, this collaboration offers a strategic opportunity for us to reach a broader audience of new participants as we continue to fight all cancers to save lives and celebrate life.”

Events nationwide will be announced in the coming weeks.
