Breed Health Survey Launched For Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever

A breed health survey has been launched by the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of UK with the support of the Kennel Club.

The survey aims to give a better picture of the health of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever in the UK and can be completed by anyone who owns a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, whether Kennel Club registered or not.

The survey will help the breed to put any problems in context by asking owners to submit reports on both their healthy dogs and those with diagnosed health conditions, and will provide meaningful data that can be used, if required, by researchers focusing on canine health issues.

Bill Lambert, Kennel Club Health and Breeder Services Manager, said: “We are very happy to be supporting the new breed health survey for Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.

“As with any breed, it is extremely helpful to be able to assess its general state of health and to identify areas of particular strength and weakness to help safeguard the future of the breed.  We would recommend that anyone with a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever takes a moment to help protect the breed they love by filling out the survey.”

After the survey period has ended, the results will be published on the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever club website and in the club’s magazine, ‘Nova News’.

The survey is available for download on the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of UK website at www.toller-club.co.uk and is running until the end of 2014.  The survey should be sent to the Breed Health Co-ordinator, Babs Harding, at Brizewood, 2 Blewbury Road, East Hagbourne, Oxfordshire, OX11 9LF.

Information given within this completed survey may be shared amongst breed specialists and the Kennel Club, but no names of dogs or owners will be available to the general public.
