Entries are now open for the Breeders’ Competition which is to be reintroduced at Crufts 2017 as a stand-alone event on Saturday 11th March. Called the Crufts Breeders’ Competition, a maximum of 60 teams will compete and entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

The judge for the event is Anne Macdonald, Kennel Club General Committee member and breeder of the well-known Mabrooka Salukis.  In 2002, Anne won the hound group at Crufts with her home-bred Ch Mabrooka Jayid.

The entry fee for each group is £10, payable online only. All teams will be pre-judged in rings 1 and 2 in hall 1 on Saturday 11th at 2pm and the teams need not arrive at the venue before 1pm. The competition will be held in the Genting Arena at 6.30pm.

Dogs do not need to be qualified for or entered in the main breed competition at Crufts 2017 in order to qualify for the Breeders’ Competition.

Gerald King, Chairman of Crufts, said: “Crufts is proud to see the reintroduction of this event as it was always a spectacular sight in the arena. We look forward to welcoming teams from all over the UK and also from overseas at the ideal venue of the world’s greatest dog show.”

Entries can be made only online here where the regulations for this event are listed. The first 60 teams entered will be those which compete.
