Next week the fancy will begin to make the annual pilgrimage to New York City for Westminster, which now has become Westminster week. From the specialties at the Pennsylvania, to sporting specialties out in New York state, etc., along with other dog-related events going on through the weekend including the Take The Lead Theater Benefit, various dinners and celebrations, and the Meet the Breeds extravaganza at the Pier, the events truly turn the city into one giant dog-themed venue!

Westminster Breed judging will stream live on Fox Sports Go and group judging will air on FS1 on Monday and Tuesday evening. We wish the best of luck to all who are going to show at WKC, and I wish all those that are going to watch, socialize, shop, eat, drink and be merry the best of times! We will see you there!

We at The Canine Chronicle will do our best to keep those at home well-informed of the breed judging results throughout the day. Be sure to check back to visit www.caninechronicle.com often throughout the day on Monday and Tuesday for up-to-the-minute results along with photos from the event.

Folks who attended the Orange Empire shows in Norco, California this past weekend had high winds to contend with during and after the show. This cluster has moved venues each of the last several years. The weather gods were not kind to Burt Yamada and his show committee this year. The cluster was held at an outdoor equestrian center and the winds made it difficult for the exhibitors. My sincere hope is that the cluster will not suffer from this unfortunate one-time weather occurrence.

The five-day cluster in Grayslake went off without a hitch this year. This cluster continues to grow and drew a very nice entry. Let’s hope this trend continues.

It is with great sadness that we extend our most sincere sympathies to Doris Cozart and her family on the loss of her daughter, Debbie Cozart. Debbie lost her valiant fight with cancer. She will be missed.

We wish a happy 49th wedding anniversary to Dorothy and Lee Schuerman of Springfield, Illinois.

Celebrating birthdays this week are: Kellye Bacom St. John (congrats on the upcoming wedding as well Bacon!), Gina Weiser, Erin Henlon-Hall and Jane Myers. We wish you all a happy b-day!

Safe travels to all my friends, and remember… at the end of the day if you are happy taking YOUR dog home, whether you got a blue ribbon or not, YOU WIN!

Until next time…..
