Royal Canin Congratulates Brand Ambassador For Westminster Win!

Rumor continues to reign! Rumor, a German Shepherd Dog and Royal Canin Brand Ambassador, won Best of Breed and the Herding Group on her way to Best in Show at the 141st Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York last week. Five-year-old Rumor, officially known as GCH CH Lockenhaus’ Rumor Has It V Kenlyn, defeated more than 2,800 dogs to take home the top show honor in what was her last major show before retirement. She is only the second dog from the Herding Group to take home the Best in Show title at Westminster. In 2015, Rumor was also named Best in Show at the AKC National Championship after defeating more than 4,500 dogs to take home a prize of $50,000 and the title of National Champion.

“She has beautiful proportions. She’s anatomically very balanced, well made and harmonious in motion; beautiful pigment and a great coat,” said Rumor’s owner Kent Boyles, who handles her in the show ring. “These show dogs that are campaigning all the time are like world class athletes. You have to feed them the best possible nutrition you can get your hands on.”

As a Brand Ambassador for Royal Canin, Boyles feeds ROYAL CANIN® BREED HEALTH NUTRITION® German Shepherd to his Shepherds and recommends Royal Canin to all of his clients.

German Shepherds trace their ancestry back to ancient herding and farm dogs, but the breed has evolved to become known for their athleticism, intelligence and courage. Shepherds, like Rumor, require a fair amount of exercise, mental stimulation and proper nutrition.

“From family dogs to show dogs, Royal Canin knows that details make champions and Rumor is a magnificent representation of this belief,” said Dr. Brent Mayabb, Vice President of Corporate Affairs and veterinarian at Royal Canin. “We are thrilled to consider Rumor a part of the Royal Canin family and we wish her a long, healthy life of retirement from the show ring.”
