National Champions in Agility, Obedience and AKC Rally Crowned in Perry, GA

The top dogs in the nation were crowned from an overall entry of more than 1,900 this weekend at the American Kennel Club® (AKC®) National Agility Championship, AKC National Obedience Championship and AKC Rally National Championship held in Perry, Georgia

“It is inspiring to see the performances at these three National Championship events. The joy of being there and the comradery among the exhibitors makes this a celebration of the sports,” said Doug Ljungren, AKC Vice President of Sports and Events. “These dogs are truly the best in their sport from across the country.  We’re proud to acknowledge the accomplishments of these talented dogs and dedicated handlers.”

AKC National Agility Championship

AKC National Agility Champions

Placing first in their height division (8″, 12″, 16″, 20″, 24” and 26″ respectively) were:

  • 8” – NAC MACH7 Aerilee’s Like Never Before MXS2 MJG2 XF T2B2 (Wren), a Papillon handled by  Betsey Lynch of Delware, OH
  • 12” – Quicksilver Cherry On Top MX MXJ OF (Sundae), an All American Dog handled by Angie Benacquisto of Ortonville, MI
  • 16” – MACH Kinnaman’s Lilac D Pessoa MXB MJS (Lilac), a Australian Shepherd handled by Neno Pessoa of Washington, NJ
  • 20”- MACH2 Cedar Jedi Master Spirit MXS MJS EF T2B2 (Jedi), a  Border Collie handled by Susan McGowen of Albuquerque, NM
  • 24” – NAC MACH Sagehill Silver Lining MXS MJS NF CGC (Gromit), a Border Collie handled by Maria Badamo of Midlothian, TX
  • 26” – MACH Ignited’s Bluebird MXB MJB OF (Bird), a  Border Collie handled by Dudley Shumate of Clemmons, NC

AKC Preferred National Agility Champions

Placing first in their height divisions (4”, 8”, 12”, 16” and 20” respectively) were:

  • 4” – MACH9 PACH2 Logan Lake Hope MXC2 MJG3 MXP3 MXPB MJP3 MJPB PAX2 XF T2B (Logan), an All American Dog handled by Kim Barton of Johnstown, OH
  • 8” – MACH2 Pencader No Quarter MXS MJS MXP MJP XF (Jonesy), a Miniature Schnauzer handled by Delaney Ratner of Cape Elizabeth, ME
  • 12” – Safranne’s Lexus Speed Racer CD MX MXJ MXP MJP (Lexi), a Poodle handled by Loretta Vojtech of Kenosha, WI
  • 16” – CH MACH12 Foxgrove’s Don’T Call Me Jack CD JH MXC3 MJS4 MXP MJP2 XF T2B2 WC (Ripper), a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever handled by Terry Simons of Northridge, CA
  • 20” – NAC MACH4 PACH Gaylan’s Jamaican Me Crazy CD SH MXB2 MJB2 MXP3 MXPB MJP2 MJPB MXF MFP T2B (Doc), a Golden Retriever handled by Michelle Foster of Old Brookville, NY

1st Runner-Up:

2nd Runner-Up:

OTCH Rhumbline’s All Or Nothing UDX2 OM3 (Zeal) a Labrador Retriever handled by Petra Ford of Washington, NJ

3rd Runner-Up:

OTCH Goldenloch Lay Down Your Bets UDX26 OGM RN (Layla) a Golden Retriever handled by Peggy McConnell of Dallas, TX

AKC Rally® National Championship

The 2017 AKC Rally® National Champion (winner of the Rally Advanced Excellent Class) is: MACH2 Rising Star’s Leap Of Faith CD RAE MXC MJC XF T2B2 (Bounce) a Border Collie handled by Jasmine Lyon of Acworth, GA

Rally Excellent: Sealite Switcheroo CDX PCD BN RE (Switch) a Border Collie handled by Judy Ramsey of Spring, TX

Rally Advanced: OTCH Cubby’s Andrango Boomerango UDX3 OM6 BN RE (Andre) a Golden Retriever handled by Robert Alan Portnoy of Berkeley Lake, GA
