Table Talk – August 22, 2018
I am hitting the road and headed to Santa Barbara! It’s always a very busy week there, but such a great opportunity to catch up with so many people. I look forward to seeing friends from near and far!
The smoke and ash from the fires in Canada and Southern California found their way up to Enumclaw, Washington where the Olympic Kennel Club and specialties were held this past weekend. I heard the air was filled with smoke and there was a layer of ash covering the ground. Fortunately for all in Enumclaw, the weather cooperated this year. Continued thoughts and prayers to those affected by these raging fires.
Debbie Campbell-Freeman and hubby Ron will be celebrating their birthdays with a 2-week cruise from Barcelona to Venice, then staying on a few extra days in Venice. After having the only house on their block that survived last year’s fire in California, and finally completing the repairs, this trip is much needed R&R for them. Have a great time, be safe, and happy birthday to both of you!
Congratulations to Georjean and Don Jensen on their recent anniversary. These two lovebirds celebrated 62 years of wedded bliss!! I heard Bruce and Tara Schultz joined them for the festivities.
We wish a very happy 30th anniversary to Paul and Karen Crary.
Meanwhile, Great Dane fanciers Lisa and John Garrison celebrated 39 years of matrimony. What a GREAT pattern to see… so many people celebrating decades together! On the other hand, I still don’t understand HOW I could be old enough to be married 30-plus years myself!
The sport lost three long-time favorites this past week. Sadly, Trish Kanzler lost her battle with cancer. Loved by all, Trish’s passing will leave a hole in the sport. Diane Propst also passed away at the age of 79. Finally, long-time boxer aficionado and AKC judge John Connolly also succumbed to an extended illness. John was one of the first people I showed to in conformation and I have adored him ever since. Rest In Peace, my friends, you will be missed.
It is great to see that Jane Myers is getting in touch with her mechanic side again! Have fun at those car shows, girlfriend!

I was sorry to hear that there was a bit of water backed up in the grooming area at the Greeley, Colorado shows this past weekend. I was told the storm drains were plugged and there was a lot of “lakef property” to be had there.
Celebrating birthdays this week are: Megan Cloudman, Sam Mammano, Ma Hirai, Dana Cline, Larry Fenner, David Johnson, Patty Keenan and Bobby Fisher. May you all have the most special day filled with laughter and friendship!
I leave you guys with a great thought. This goes for all of us young and older (note I said older, not old!!) ‘Be Humble. Be Hungry. Be Helpful. Always be the hardest working person in the room. The rest will fall into place.’
