Table Talk · November 13, 2019

This week we celebrate all of the men and women who have served, as well as those who are currently serving our country. It warms my heart to see all of the notes of thanks on social media. I want to extend a very special thank you to all who have sacrificed for our great country!

The Philadelphia Kennel Club will hold their benched shows once again in Oaks, Pennsylvania this Saturday and Sunday November 16 and 17. The Saturday show, broadcast as the National Dog Show sponsored by Purina, with an entry of 2,080, will air on NBC on Thanksgiving Day from noon-2pm. I believe that these broadcasts are a great outreach for our sport! Please encourage your family and friends to watch. The entry for this show is up significantly from that of most recent years.

This past weekend in Kalamazoo Michigan, Tristen Lawrence suffered a bad fall and broke her leg. She was taken to the hospital via ambulance. A huge shout-out to everyone who helped out during this emergency. I heard that Tim Conradt, David Beek, Heather Sturdevant-Bojovic and Laura King, and many others, all came to the rescue. Tristen is back home and surrounded by her family and the “Danes” while recovering. Heal quickly, my friend! We look forward to seeing you back running left handed circles soon!

The Tucson, Arizona circuit is in full swing, and I look forward to joining the fun for week two! If you are in Tucson this coming week, please stop by the Purina booth and say hi! I am working on the Table Talk Live! schedule for Orlando in December, as well as New York in February and would love to chat with you about the Breed Priority series, or other special interest segments.

Our most sincere sympathies go out to the friends and family of Jeanine Pattee who passed away following a heart attack this past week; sadly, Jeanine’s daughter, Jordan, passed away the following day.

Reserved grooming for the Orlando shows is full! If any of you have reserved spaces that you are not going to use, please post them on social media. Likewise, if you are looking for a spot, you should reach out to the fancy via social media as plans do change, and you just may be able to get a spot that way.

Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine made it back from Seoul, South Korea where she judged at the Korean Kennel Federation shows. Fortunately, she made it back just as the snow started falling. Good luck achieving that diamond medallion status for 2020, my friend!

Congratulations to Brad Jenkins who has completed his last radiation treatment. It was great to see you in Ft. Wayne, Brad. I hope to see you soon, and I hope you continue to feel better each day.

This is a big week for birthdays! Celebrating birthdays this week are: Ellen Fetter, Pat Pramuk, Kenny Craig, Rex Linn, Alyssa Beutler, Bill Hempel, Barbara Wagner, John McCartney, Rob Skibinski, Pam Hoerster, Eric Liebes, Phil Booth, Sydney Good, Glenn Lycan, Mark Bettis and Ernie Conti.

My thought for this week is: Whatever happens when the big show is over – love your losers AND your winners!!!

(Thanks, Colette Seror!)

Be safe in your travels, my friends, and make sure to lend a hand to those new exhibitors! Until next time…
