The Westminster Veterinarian of the Year Award Nominations are Now Open
The Veterinarian of the Year Award is a way to celebrate and recognize the veterinarians who care for our beloved dogs. Nominations will be accepted from November 13 – 27, 2024. This award will recognize vets who go above and beyond for their four-legged patients and their humans.
In 2022, WKC launched the Veterinarian of the Year (VOTY) initiative to celebrate, recognize, and support the dedicated veterinarians who make a difference in our pets’ lives, while shining a light on the mental health challenges faced within the veterinary community. The winner will be honored during the 149th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show presented by Purina Pro Plan, taking place February 8, 10, and 11, 2025 in New York City.
Four regional finalists will be chosen, based on the public nominations, with the ultimate recipient selected by an esteemed judging panel of veterinarians, including previous VOTY award winners. The winning vet will be invited to attend Westminster Week 2025, and WKC will donate $10,000 in their name to Not One More Vet, an organization that supports veterinarians, students, and vet techs tackling the issues of mental well-being.
The 2024 VOTY competition saw over 200 nominations from all over the U.S., resulting in naming Dr. Treyton Diggs of Boutte, Louisiana Westminster’s third annual Veterinarian of the Year. In a newly-appointed role, Dr. Diggs is currently serving as Westminster’s inaugural Resident Veterinarian, further exemplifying his unwavering values, dedication, and moral compass in animal care by providing virtual support and expert counsel to Westminster’s global community.
Join us in celebrating the dedicated individuals in the veterinary community whose compassion and expertise make a positive impact on the well-being of our beloved pets. Nominate a veterinarian today! Nominate your vet here.
