Show Cancellation: 2021 Kentuckiana Cluster of Dog Shows

Dear Dog Show Enthusiasts,

The Kentuckiana Cluster has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 Pandemic in hopes that we would be able to move forward with the 2021 Cluster in March. Based on the current situation along with the fact that facility is state owned, our three clubs made the difficult unanimous decision to cancel the 2021 Kentuckiana Cluster. The current state guidelines would severely limit the number of entries we would be allowed to have. The event would be restricted to our participants, effectively eliminating the opportunity for our vendors and sponsors to have a successful show. As you can imagine, the logistics and procedures required to keep everyone safe are tremendous and we simply do not have the large pool of volunteers needed to implement them.

You may wonder why we are making this decision now and not waiting. We are currently facing pending deadlines regarding contracts, deposits, and premium lists. Unfortunately, the facility will not be able to provide us any revised deadlines until closer to January 2021, which is simply too late. The venue has basically been closed since our show in March. It has been staged primarily as an overflow military hospital to deal with the pandemic and will be utilized as a central polling center for the upcoming elections.

The Kentuckiana Cluster is keenly aware of the hardships facing our dog show family. We will be making a generous donation to Take The Lead in hopes of providing assistance during this very uncertain time for so many.

We offer our deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered assistance to help us move forward. We are so very thankful to the breeders, handlers, P.H.A. volunteers, vendors, sponsors, exhibitors, judges, superintendent staff, and A.K.C. field staff that have supported us.

We look forward to seeing you again in March of 2022 and hope to enjoy a new and expanded Kentuckiana Cluster with everyone. Until then please stay safe!

Respectfully,

David J Johnson
