Remembering Elaine Mathis

We received the sad news that Mrs. Elaine Mathis of Temple Terrace, Florida has recently passed away.

Mrs. Mathis was a respected AKC Judge of all Sporting, Hound, Terrier, Toy and Non-Sporting Groups, as well as Best in Show. Prior to becoming a popular Judge, Elaine and her husband, LaMar successfully bred American Cocker Spaniels under the LaMar prefix. They bred many AKC champions of note, including Ch. LaMar’s Ivory Summer and Ch. LaMar’s Bentley. Mrs. Mathis was a lifetime member of the American Spaniel Club and was also inducted to the American Spaniel Club Hall of Fame for her significant contributions to the breed.

As a Judge, Mrs. Mathis judged many premiere and prestigious shows and National Specialties all over the world.

Elaine’s family has asked for privacy during this time and would prefer to not receive any messages. Her funeral will also be private.

The Canine Chronicle extends heartfelt condolences to Elaine’s many friends and family during this time. She will be sorely missed.
