AKC Canine Health Foundation Earns Consecutive Four-Star Rating from Charity Navigator

The AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the health of all dogs and their owners by funding humane scientific research and sharing information to prevent, treat and cure canine disease, has once again earned a highest possible four-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s premier independent charity evaluator.

This year, CHF received its highest overall score in over a decade, demonstrating their efficient use of donations, programs growth, and commitment to good governance. CHF has earned Charity Navigator’s top distinction based on  independent review of their financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. CHF has also earned the 2019 Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar.

“The AKC Canine Health Foundation Board of Directors and staff take great care to channel our donors’ support directly into research that will benefit the health of dogs,” states CHF Chief Executive Officer, Diane Brown, DVM, PhD. “This distinction independently demonstrates CHF’s commitment to our mission, vision, and fiduciary responsibility.”

Since its founding in 1995, CHF has awarded more than $52 million in canine health research and educational grants. CHF currently manages over $10.8 million in 135 active grants to better understand the mechanisms that cause disease while leading the way to better diagnosis, treatment and disease prevention in dogs. Donors can be assured that their gifts are going to a fiscally responsible and ethical non-profit organization when they support the AKC Canine Health Foundation.
